You're not a weak test-taker on paper — a Python-heavy analytics background and daily spreadsheet work don't square with a 44th-percentile Quantitative score. That gap is almost always pace, not ability: Arithmetic Reasoning gives you 70 seconds a question with no calculator, and Math Knowledge gives you 53, both on material (algebra, geometry, ratios) that's easy once it's automatic but slow the first few dozen times. The plan below spends roughly 80% of study time closing that speed gap on Quantitative, Verbal, and Academic Aptitude, and boxes the rated composites into a couple of short, deliberate sessions so effort on them can't quietly eat the calendar.
Both composites lean on Block Counting, Table Reading, and Math Knowledge — spatial and formula-recall tasks that reward exactly the pattern-matching and structured-problem-solving you already do daily. Academic Aptitude and Verbal lean on vocabulary recall and analogy speed instead, which is a colder muscle if you haven't drilled it since college. That's the whole story behind a 77 next to a 39.
Twelve timed subtests feed six composites. Math Knowledge alone touches five of six, which makes it the highest-leverage single subtest on the whole test. Word problems, no calculator. Practice translating English into an equation fast, and learn to estimate/eliminate answer choices before fully solving — on a 70-second clock, elimination is often faster than calculation.
Pure formula recall: algebra, geometry, basic exponents. The highest-leverage subtest on the test since it feeds five composites. A memorized one-page formula sheet, rebuilt from scratch weekly, beats re-reading notes.
Almost no time to reason it out — relationship-type recognition has to be near-automatic. Drill by category (synonym, antonym, part-whole, degree, function) rather than random mixed sets at first.
Fastest subtest on the test and pure recall. Spaced-repetition vocabulary is the single best time-to-percentile trade available to you — 15 minutes a day compounds fast.
Read for main idea and structure, not every detail. Answer from the passage, not from outside knowledge, and watch for "true statement, wrong answer" traps.
